In this assignment I had to take six different pictures, one blank one with no one in it, and five other photos where Lauryn made different poses in different areas of the frame. I used a tripod so that the frame did not move from picture to picture. After that I put the photos into photoshop and then using the lasso tool and layer mask I unveiled each of the Lauryns. In this assignment I learned how to use the layer mask and lasso tool. It was pretty cool because I have seen photos like this and now I know how to do it myself. One thing I had to do was touch up the final photo to mask any differences between the photos. I had to remember to be on the right layer, but that was the only trouble I had. Overall, it was a pretty cool assignment and I enjoyed doing it.
For photo four I decided to choose macro as my theme. I wanted to take pictures of my cactus because it is hairy and I thought I could get some cool up close photos of it. I also had to use manual for this photo assignment for the macro setting so that was an interesting experience. Below is my original photo and edited version Aperture: f 3.5 Shutter speed: 1/100 seconds ISO: 100 For the second photo, I didn't do much editing. I only filled in some black in the lower left corner and lower and upper right corners. I wanted to add more black because I thought that by filling in the corners it would focus the eye more on the cactus as the subject of the photo. The eye would be less drawn to other areas of the picture. In this assignment I got a lot more comfortable with the manual setting on the camera. I also had to do a much different shooting style than before because macro is not similar to any of the other topics I have done. This was a fun assignment though, and like I said before I am a lot more comfortable with manual settings now. I also worked with animals again and was reminded of how frustrating that is because they are always moving.
In this assignment I had to take photos around the school and then using photoshop merge them together into a panoramic. I started off taking around four pictures and as I got used to it I started taking more to merge into a panoramic, eventually getting to around seven photos. In this assignment I learned how to take a panoramic picture using a camera and not my phone. I did not know that this was how panoramic pictures were taken using an actual camera so that is pretty cool. The thing that was hardest was trying to keep the camera at the same level so that lines were more consistent in the photo. Over time I did get better at that though.
For photo three I decided to do landscape as my theme. I wanted to focus on capturing the whole of the land and filling the frame of the photo. I also wanted to be sure to have a juxtaposition between the gray sky and greener grass. Aperture: f 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/800 seconds ISO: 200 In this assignment I learned more about landscape photography. I think it is interesting the different approaches when taking photos for landscape vs. nature. During this assignment I focused more on lighting because the day was more cloudy so I had to make sure that the photos were getting enough light. Overall, I am satisfied with what I did and it was interesting seeing how my approach differed from nature photography.
In this assignment I had to take a picture of the school and then edit it using techniques we learned in class. I took a picture of the hallway and decided to edit it and add photos to it following a jungle theme. Below are my original and edited photos In this assignment I learned how to use new tools in photoshop such as filters. I also learned how to add in other images and create shadows of those images. I liked this assignment because I could choose my theme and edit the photo however I wanted. I had full creative control. As stated before, I learned more tools in photoshop and I am now a lot more comfortable with photoshop.
For my second photo assignment I chose to use nature as my topic. I decided on this topic because I have woods behind my house so I would have a lot of different things to take pictures of. I thought that doing nature after animals would give me a good feel of indoor vs. outdoor photography. Aperture: f 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/125 seconds ISO: 200 In this assignment I learned more about the intricacies of depth of field. I mainly took photos using a shorter depth of field because I wanted only the subject to be in focus. One thing I struggled with a little bit were the shadows. The sun was not directly at the top of the sky which led to some issues with shadows on my subjects. There was also a little bit of an issue with wind, in that the flowers and plants would move and cause the camera to lose focus. After adjusting to these two things though it became much easier to take the pictures. Overall, I learned more about outdoor photography with shadows and wind and how to account for those while taking pictures.
In this photoshop assignment I had to edit and retouch an image of a car. I had to use different tools such as copy, clone, selection, etc. in order to do this. I was given an edited car and had to edit the original image of the car in a similar way. The original car, edited car, and the car edited based on my decisions are all below. During this assignment I got a lot more comfortable with photoshop. I learned how to use the select tool and how to use the clone stamp tool. I thought it was really cool how much you can change a photo with editing and I learned a lot more about photoshop during this assignment. One thing that I had a little trouble with at first was the clone stamp editing tool, but now I feel a lot more comfortable with it. Overall, I can definitely see how this will be useful in the future and learned a lot about photoshop.
For photo two I am going to do nature. I want to work on taking pictures in an outdoor setting and trying to get the differences in colors. Especially right now when the flowers are blooming I think that there could be good contrast in the colors of flowers right now. I plan on taking pictures of flowers or plants blooming in the woods.

I think I will focus on trying to take a photo similar to the daisy photo where there is a very short depth of field and only the flower is in focus. I also liked that in the photo with the purple flowers that there is the reflection of the lake in the background. I think I will also try and get photos that use water and reflection. Mainly I took away the use of depth of field in nature photos. This is my first photo assignment. In this assignment I had to choose a topic out of a list of 14 topics and take a photo based on that. I chose the topic animal because I have lots of pets and thought that it would be best to start with a topic where I had lots of subjects to choose from. Aperture: f / 3.4 Shutter Speed: 1/250 seconds ISO: 1250 In this assignment I learned more about how to photograph animals. This was a different experience for me so far because I was using an animal as my subject. Sometimes my cat would walk away which would make it difficult to get a good photo. It was also difficult sometimes dealing with the lighting. In my house there are lots of big open windows which meant I had to compensate for the abundance of light. Overall, I learned about photographing an animal and those difficulties and dealing with light in the image.
